Wow! A lot has happened lately, so we'll try to condense it into one posting for you all. The month of December was crazy! There was lots of snow, life pretty much shut down around here and we had lots of family time hanging out at home. It was great! Winters here are usually pretty mild, so when a flake of snow falls from the sky it's a big, big deal. We ended up getting quite a bit of snow and thought it would be fun to take Chase out to play, but he was not a fan. He cried a little bit so we only stayed out for a couple minutes and Jonathan and I had to play in the snow while Chase was napping. With all the snow our power went out for a little bit. During this time we decided to trek to the store, with Chase in his stroller, for a few necessities.....It was an adventure..... We stayed around here for Christmas and spent several days with Grandpa Jim and Uncle Tony. We all had a good time and stayed bundled up indoors. Chase loved seeing my dad and brother and they seemed to really enjoy seeing him as well. Chase loved ripping open presents this year and we had a lot of fun watching him. We took advantage of our extended stay in Gresham to visit with some friends that we don't get to see very often. We learned a few things: 1.) Chase loves dogs and we will probably have to get one someday 2.) We cannot agree on a type of dog to get so we might never actually get one (I like smaller dogs but Jonny vetoes that and wants a big dog) 3.) Chase likes babies and thinks he is big enough to hold them....not a good idea I think. A few days after Christmas we went to visit Aunt Lawayne and her daughters and sons-in-law. It was fun to be with them and we don't get together as often as we would all like. We had dinner and a Christmas celebration with them and Chase thought all the presents were for him. As usual, Chase was the evening's entertainment. As for New Year's....we stayed home with a movie, snacks and of course, some sparkling cider. Around midnight we heard what sounded like gunshots! For those of you who don't know, we don't live in the most reputable area of town so this made us a little nervous. There were no other fireworks going off so we really thought that this might be gunshots. But don't worry, our fears were wrong and we didn't hear of anything that went down in the 'hood. Oh, and to ring in the new year, our apartment flooded! It was only in our front entry way and none of our stuff got damaged, so that was good. It was still an annoyance, though, to bucket our way out in the middle of the freezing cold night. And on to our recent big event..... Chase is 18 months old! He is official in the nursery at Church! We set him up with a nice "big kid" haircut a while back and with his little ironed shirt and corduroy pants he was ready to make his first "official" appearance in the nursery! He is acting like such a big kid! Some new things he loves to do: wrestle, play football and basketball, get down from his highchair when nobody is looking, jump off the couch/bed (thanks to Jonny for teaching him that), and answer our questions. That last one is my favorite. We ask, "do you want to eat?" and Chase says, "yes!". "Do you want to go outside?" "yes!" Do you want to see Lexy-dog and baby KaeLynn?" "yes!" It is dang cute and we have an awesome kid! We hope everyone is doing well and that you all have an amazing 2009! Also check out our new family photos in the photo gallery!
